Through the years, Greenbelt in Makati has developed into something more than a shopping haven for the public. It has now provided a more elitist atmosphere which seems to only suit the fancies of the upper class. Branded stores line up its malls. Bars and restaurants offer the best ambience and the finest cuisine. However, everybody is free to visit the place. And, certainly everybody will appreciate the magnificent architecture of its buildings and the splendid landscaping of its gardens. There is even a pond where ducks paddle playfully.... The Geenbelt Chapel still stands there, a familiar structure in a seemingly new place.

Hongkong has it. Singapore also has it. Even Thailand has it. But if you have a limited budget and cannot travel to other countries to experience the state of the art oceanarium, why leave it to your fantasies. The Philippines has its own ocean park, The Manila Ocean Park. It is situated at the back of Luneta's Grandstand, just by the Manila Bay.

Before you enter the actual display of marine animals, the park has a schedule of magic shows and childrens' programs that you may want to participate in.

Then you can go down the wooden steps toward the main attractions. At the entrance, you see baby sharks and colorful starfishes in a watertank in which you can actualy dip your hands into. Inside a dimly lit room are aquariums where several various bright colorful fishes swim about. Farther through the center are large tanks where you shall witness other varieties of fish species, many of which can be easily found locally, like the milkfish and the tilapia. Then experience how the stingrays swim just above you when you enter the tunnel-shaped aquarium. Inside the tunnel, it would seem that you are amongst the different species of marine animals as they swim and glide beside and above you. Beyond the tunnel are more big aquariums where bigger and fierce marine animals are kept, like the sharks.
Up the steps is the all-natural foot spa where small fishes eat away dead skin cells from your feet. You can also try to have a dip into the sharks' tank for a closer encounter. Don't worry because you get to ride in an enclosed vessel.

There is also a restaurant here on the 2nd level which offers a buffet meal which costs Php600++ per person (that was in the summer of 2008). You will pass by a souvenir shop as you venture out of the restaurant.
